As Portugal is the world’s largest cork producer and cork is a natural material that visually stimulates superior comfort, its use in urban railway seats had to be tested.
To this end, Monte Meão developed and patented a solution which, after being used in two test units of the Lisbon Metro for 10 years, allowed the solution to be proven and ensured that the decision was taken to renew the 13700 seats, the entire fleet.
