The founding of the company, initially dedicated to the production of fabric labels and ribbons, under the corporate name of “Passamanarias Monte Meão, Lda”.

This was followed by entry into the automotive sector, starting the production of seat belts. This step symbolized the beginning of the diversification of activities, having always with the demands that this sector requires in focus.

In the 1970s, in order to pursue Renault's project, Monte Meão expanded its skills, taking on a challenging proposition by embracing the production of sun visors and warning triangles.

As a trusted supplier in the production of seat belts and having a close relationship with car manufacturers and bodybuilders, Monte Meão expanded its expertise to the production of seats for the automotive sector. Our experience and commitment to quality ensure our customers the safety and reliability essential to the sector.

It was at the beginning of the 90s that the leap was taken, taking into account the lessons learned in the automotive sector, Monte Meão started production of seats for the most diverse services in the railway sector. Here, a new technical and commercial cooperation agreement was signed with Compin, a French company that is a leader in the European market.

Taking advantage of new and promising growth of opportunities, Monte Meão expands into the stadiums and auditoriums sector, establishing strategic partnerships with exclusive agents in the United Kingdom – LINK, and in France – CLP. This expansion boosted the development of new know-how, such as the injection of polymeric materials, which remain in the portfolio today.

It was the commitment to internationalization that led Monte Meão to establish a solid presence in Brazil, through Monte Meão BR, in São Paulo, and in the United Kingdom, with Monte Meão UK, in Redditch. After years of experience and growth, the company decided to remain independent, separating itself from the Compin licensing, assuming a robust and trustworthy position.
